OUR STORY
In 2020, in the midst of Covid, our founder Janina Nieper moved to Amsterdam with one big dream: Being at the heart beat of the Circular Economy and experiencing the movement first hand that was pledged to begin in Amsterdam: To become the f irst fully circular city by 2050.
Upon arrival, she asked herself the question: But where are all those cool initiatives she has read about? Out of this personal need to connect, she created the Circular Economy Club Amsterdam.
1ST MEET-UP
The spark fell in 2022 at De Ceuvel: the f irst meet-up among a group of passionate and like-minded individuals who share a vision of a more sustainable and circular future. From then onwards, monthly meet-ups followed in circular locations around Amsterdam.
What was originally labelled as Circular Economy Club Amsterdam transformed to a dynamic community dedicated to circularity.
CIRCULAR AMSTERDAM
In 2024, Circular Amsterdam was born with the vision of co-creation. What if we could create a sustainable city together? Mara Haverkort joined the team to strengthen the foundation and steer the club into a new direction. A board was formed and an association created.
